Job Description
A Leading Infrastructure Company is hiring for the position of Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) for its Infrastructure EPC Projects division. The role is responsible for developing and executing the overall Human Resource strategy aligned with business objectives and leading HR operations across corporate offices and multiple EPC project sites. The CHRO will act as a strategic business partner to the leadership team and drive organizational effectiveness, workforce excellence, and high-performance culture for large-scale infrastructure projects.
The role involves leading all HR functions including HR strategy, talent acquisition, workforce planning, employee engagement, industrial relations, statutory compliance, leadership development, compensation and benefits, performance management, and digital HR transformation. The CHRO will partner with senior leadership to drive organizational growth, transformation, and build a people-centric culture across the organization.
Key responsibilities include developing manpower planning strategies for infrastructure and EPC projects, leading recruitment for corporate, engineering, project execution, commercial, finance, procurement, HSE, quality, and support functions, building talent pipelines for critical positions, and improving recruitment turnaround time and hiring quality.
The CHRO will design and implement performance management systems, drive goal setting, KPIs, performance reviews, succession planning, and career development initiatives. The role will also manage compensation structures, incentive programs, salary reviews, promotions, bonus planning, benchmarking, and employee benefit programs while ensuring cost efficiency.
The position will establish leadership development and learning initiatives, develop technical, behavioural, managerial, and safety training programs, improve employee engagement, strengthen employer branding, and enhance employee retention through effective culture-building initiatives.
The role requires managing industrial relations strategies, union negotiations, collective bargaining, grievance handling, and maintaining harmonious employee relations while minimizing industrial disputes and legal risks. The CHRO will ensure compliance with labour laws and regulations including EPF, ESIC, CLRA, Factory Act, Shops and Establishments Act, POSH, labour codes, and other applicable statutory requirements.
The CHRO will establish HR systems for multiple project sites and support manpower mobilization and demobilization for large infrastructure projects including highways, metro rail, bridges, tunnels, railways, marine projects, airports, power projects, smart cities, water and irrigation projects, and industrial construction. The role will also lead HRMS, ERP, and digital HR solution implementation, develop HR dashboards and analytics, automate HR processes, and improve HR efficiency.
The position requires collaboration with Business Heads, Project Directors, Functional Heads, Clients, Consultants, and Government Agencies. The CHRO will represent HR in executive management meetings and provide strategic HR insights to support business growth.
Candidates should have an MBA/PGDM in Human Resources from a reputed institution. Additional qualifications in Labour Laws or Industrial Relations will be preferred. The ideal candidate should have 20 to 25 years of progressive HR experience with a minimum of 10 years in senior HR leadership roles. Mandatory experience in Infrastructure, EPC, Construction, Engineering, or Heavy Industrial organizations is required, along with experience managing HR operations across multiple project sites in India. Experience handling organizations with a workforce exceeding 5,000 employees is preferred.
The role requires strong expertise in HR Strategy, Talent Acquisition, Compensation and Benefits, Performance Management, Industrial Relations, Labour Laws, Employee Engagement, Organizational Development, HR Analytics, HRMS/ERP Systems including SAP, Oracle, SuccessFactors, Workday, POSH Compliance, Contract Labour Management, and Project HR. Frequent travel of approximately 30-50% to project sites across India will be required.
