Job Description
Amazon is looking for a dynamic, strategic, and deeply curious Senior HR Business Partner to join its People Experience and Technology (PXT) team supporting NA Stores teams in India, along with emerging business verticals including Grocery and Amazon Health.
The Sr. HR Business Partner role exists to power the trajectory of the business by ensuring Amazon has the right talent mix, senior leadership, and capabilities to innovate and deliver exceptional customer experiences. This is both a strategic and hands-on role where the incumbent will serve as the leader of people and organizational strategy, accelerating business outcomes through the diagnosis, development, and execution of integrated solutions. The role requires starting with the business first, speaking the language of the business, and acting as a trusted advisor to senior leaders including Directors and VPs across a diverse and fast-evolving portfolio.
The position is critical in building and executing people initiatives across the organization including improving organizational effectiveness and design, leading change management, providing leadership coaching, driving talent planning, and championing HR functional excellence.
Key responsibilities include partnering with senior leaders and leadership teams to develop and execute people strategies and planning activities that foster organizational and people effectiveness. Leveraging knowledge of the business, global landscape, internal strategy documents, and external factors to tailor people-focused solutions and drive business outcomes. Interpreting key people metrics and trends and utilizing business review mechanisms to monitor risks, evaluate practices for potential bias or barriers to inclusion, and recommend solutions. Designing, recommending, and implementing effective organizational structures aligned with business strategy while strengthening culture and enabling inclusive decision-making. Reviewing and analyzing business unit data to identify trends and recommend solutions to improve performance, retention, and employee experience.
The role also includes assessing long-term and immediate senior leader talent needs and capabilities to achieve business goals. Developing strategies to build leadership capability pipelines through hiring, development, succession planning, and talent movement. Serving as a coach, advisor, and trusted partner for leaders and leadership teams to improve management effectiveness and strengthen organizational culture. Challenging leaders to rethink structures, talent decisions, biases, and ways of working.
As a change agent, the candidate will use listening mechanisms to identify trends, risks, and hotspots, drive effective change environments, coach leaders through organizational changes, and evaluate the long-term effectiveness of change initiatives. Talent planning responsibilities include building inclusive workforce plans aligned with business objectives, advising leaders on workforce trade-offs, anticipating industry trends and talent needs, identifying capability gaps, and driving talent review and compensation planning processes.
The role requires curiosity and hands-on adoption of AI tools and resources to enhance HR effectiveness, including generative AI, HR analytics platforms, and automation tools to improve people processes, decision-making, and scalability. The candidate will collaborate extensively with HR Partners, Employee Relations, IXT, Legal, Talent Management, and other PXT teams to build and deliver integrated people plans.
Basic qualifications include a Bachelor's degree or above in Human Resources, Human Resources Management, Labor Relations, Business Management, Psychology, or a related field. Experience supporting senior management in large corporate environments, project or program management experience, strong written and oral communication skills, and 8+ years of progressive HR Business Partner experience preferably in a high-tech or fast-paced environment. Experience working with large global teams, driving organizational change initiatives, talent management planning, data analytics, and strategic problem-solving is required.
Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Experience in mentoring, coaching, leadership development, organizational design, talent management, cross-functional collaboration, talent acquisition strategy, AI adoption in HR, workforce analytics, HR communications, and knowledge of India labor laws and compliance requirements is highly preferred.
