Safeguard Global is hiring an India Payroll Specialist for a full-time remote role based in India. Safeguard Global enables businesses to expand globally across nearly 190 countries while supporting over 1,500 customers worldwide. The selected candidate will take ownership of the complete India payroll cycle, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing while supporting payroll operations across selected APAC countries. Responsibilities include payroll processing, validations, reconciliations, payments, year-end activities, employee support, payroll audits, variance analysis, statutory reporting, and ensuring payroll governance.
The role involves ensuring compliance with all applicable Indian payroll regulations including Provident Fund, Employee State Insurance, Professional Tax, Labour Welfare Fund, Tax Deducted at Source, Gratuity, Statutory Bonus, and state-specific statutory requirements. The candidate will manage payroll controls, reconciliations, statutory reporting, and coordinate with Human Resources, Finance, auditors, and external payroll vendors to resolve payroll-related issues.
The Payroll Specialist will act as the Subject Matter Expert for greytHR by managing configuration requests, system testing, User Acceptance Testing, change management, and system improvements. Responsibilities also include coordinating payroll activities with third-party payroll providers across assigned APAC countries, developing payroll reports, dashboards, automation initiatives, and driving continuous process improvements using advanced Microsoft Excel.
Candidates should have significant experience independently managing end-to-end India payroll in a complex organization. Experience supporting payroll operations in APAC countries will be an advantage. Applicants should possess strong practical knowledge of greytHR including configuration, payroll testing, and User Acceptance Testing. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including XLOOKUP, INDEX MATCH, Pivot Tables, SUMIFS, COUNTIFS, data validation, and large dataset reconciliations are essential. Strong knowledge of statutory payroll compliance, Provident Fund Electronic Challan cum Return files, statutory challans, taxation processes, regulatory reporting, payroll audits, reconciliations, analytical skills, communication skills, and stakeholder management is required. Experience in payroll implementation, payroll migration, or vendor transition projects is preferred. Qualifications in Payroll, Finance, Human Resources, or Compliance are desirable.
