Job Description
Unity is hiring a Payroll Specialist to join its EMEA Payroll team in Bengaluru. Unity is the world's leading game engine company, powering interactive experiences for more than 3 billion consumers every month across gaming, automotive, manufacturing, healthcare, and other industries. The Payroll Specialist will support accurate and compliant payroll processing across multiple EMEA countries while collaborating with global HR, Finance, Accounting, Tax, Benefits, Mobility, and payroll vendors. Industry: Software Development and Gaming Technology. Employee size: 5,001-10,000 employees.
The selected candidate will manage end-to-end payroll processing for assigned EMEA countries including France, Spain, Belgium, Lithuania, and other EMEA jurisdictions, ensuring timely and accurate payroll execution while complying with local statutory requirements and company policies.
Responsibilities include partnering with payroll vendors and in-country payroll providers to process monthly payroll, validating payroll results, resolving payroll discrepancies, reviewing payroll inputs including new hires, terminations, compensation changes, bonuses, benefits, equity transactions, absences, and other payroll-related activities.
The role involves performing payroll audits, reconciliations, payroll accounting activities, payroll journal preparation, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, variance analysis, payroll reporting, statutory filings, and year-end payroll activities while ensuring payroll accuracy and data integrity.
The Payroll Specialist will investigate and resolve payroll, tax, social security, accounting, and employee queries while collaborating closely with HR, People Operations, Finance, Accounting, Tax, Mobility, Benefits teams, and external payroll providers. The role also supports month-end, quarter-end, and year-end payroll close activities, internal and external audits, SOX compliance where applicable, payroll governance, and documentation.
Additional responsibilities include identifying opportunities for payroll process improvements, automation, system enhancements, participating in payroll transformation projects, acquisitions, integrations, maintaining payroll procedures, monitoring legislative changes across EMEA countries, and leveraging automation and AI technologies to improve payroll operations and employee experience.
Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field with 5 to 7 years of payroll experience supporting multiple EMEA countries. Hands-on experience processing payroll for France, Spain, Belgium, Lithuania, and other EMEA countries is required.
Candidates should have strong knowledge of payroll legislation, taxation, statutory compliance, social security regulations, payroll accounting, payroll journals, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations, financial reporting, HRIS systems, payroll platforms such as Workday, CloudPay, ADP, advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, Lookups, formulas, and data validation, along with excellent analytical, communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
