Evolent Health is hiring a Lead Payroll for its Pune location with a remote work model. The selected candidate will lead end-to-end payroll operations, ensuring payroll accuracy, statutory compliance, employee satisfaction, and timely reporting. The role serves as the primary point of contact for payroll-related matters, manages payroll vendors, drives process improvements, supports payroll governance, and provides payroll insights to leadership while ensuring compliance with all applicable labour laws, taxation requirements, and company policies.
Key responsibilities include leading end-to-end payroll processing with accurate and timely salary disbursement, reviewing payroll calculations covering earnings, deductions, reimbursements, bonuses, statutory withholdings, and full and final settlements, validating payroll outputs, reconciling payroll registers before payroll release, managing payroll calendars, overseeing payroll accounting activities including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and payroll-related balance sheet accounts, maintaining payroll master data, managing payroll vendors and service level agreements, resolving payroll issues, collaborating with Human Resources, Finance, Tax, Legal, and external consultants, providing payroll guidance to employees and stakeholders, preparing payroll reports, reconciliations, dashboards, analyzing payroll costs, headcount trends, overtime expenses, supporting month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close activities, coordinating actuarial valuations and audit requirements, identifying automation opportunities, maintaining payroll policies and standard operating procedures, leading payroll system implementations and regulatory projects, mentoring junior payroll professionals, ensuring compliance with PF, PT, ESI, TDS, Labour Welfare Fund, Gratuity and other statutory requirements, managing payroll audits, statutory inspections, government inquiries, and implementing internal payroll controls.
Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline. Professional qualifications will be an added advantage. Applicants must have 5 to 7 years of progressive experience in payroll operations, payroll accounting, and statutory compliance, including at least 2 to 3 years of experience leading payroll processes, projects, or teams. Strong knowledge of Indian payroll regulations, labour laws, taxation, payroll accounting, reconciliations, ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, payroll vendor management, payroll governance, process improvement, automation, financial reporting, stakeholder management, analytical thinking, and communication skills is essential. Candidates should also demonstrate high integrity, confidentiality, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Employees working remotely must have a high-speed broadband internet connection with a minimum speed of 50 Mbps and the ability to establish a wired network connection for work purposes.
