Jefferies is looking for a Head of Human Resources for its newly established Global Innovation Center (GIC) in Pune, India. The selected candidate will be responsible for building, scaling, and running the complete people strategy for the Jefferies GIC. The role will play an important part in developing talent, creating the desired organizational culture, establishing governance, and building the people operations framework required to operate a high-performing and innovation-driven global center.

The Head of HR will establish the HR operating model for the GIC in alignment with Jefferiesβ global people strategy while localizing it for the Pune labor market. The candidate will partner with the GIC leadership team to align HR priorities with business delivery requirements and will build and lead the complete employee lifecycle for the GIC. This includes workforce planning, onboarding, performance management, compensation and local market benchmarking, and employee relations management in partnership with employment legal teams.
The role will involve establishing and continuously refining organization structures, role architecture, and capability frameworks that support the GICβs scaled growth. The selected candidate will serve as the primary HR business advisor to the GIC Head and global technology leaders.
The candidate will partner closely with global HR leadership including the Global Head of HR, Asia Head of HR, Corporate Head of HR, and Global Head of Recruiting to ensure that the GIC develops as a seamless extension of Jefferiesβ global organizational model. The role will represent the GIC HR function in global forums, governance committees, and transformation programs. The candidate will also provide development, training, guidance, and leadership to new GIC HR team members and help identify and successfully hire the GIC HR team.
The Head of HR will partner with recruiting leadership and global stakeholders to support the development and execution of a comprehensive hiring strategy. This will include contributing to superday hiring initiatives, advancing workforce diversity goals, and helping define the technical requirements that enable the recruiting team to build a strong candidate pipeline aligned with the GICβs strategic objectives.
The candidate will ensure that all hiring processes remain consistent with Jefferiesβ global standards and local regulatory requirements. In partnership with the Head of Recruiting for GIC, the candidate will drive leadership hiring and oversee recruitment governance, vendor management, and capacity planning.
In partnership with Technology leaders, the candidate will help define the Jefferies culture of the GIC. The role will advise and partner closely with the India HR team across the two established Jefferies entities and employment legal teams in establishing regulatory requirements such as India Labor codes and ensuring ongoing compliance.
The candidate will localize global people policies while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and alignment with the GICβs local culture. The role will also involve designing and delivering employee engagement strategies, leadership development initiatives, inclusion programs, and communication programs to foster a cohesive and high-performance GIC culture.
The Head of HR will establish performance management frameworks optimized for GIC talent and lead the compensation and benefits strategy for the GIC in partnership with the Compensation & Benefits team, ensuring alignment with the local GIC market. The candidate will also partner with the global Training & Development and Community & Engagement teams to design capability-building programs.
The role will ensure that the GIC is audit-ready across all HR processes by partnering with Global HR, Compliance, and Legal teams. The candidate will operationalize local employment requirements relevant to Pune and lead engagement with external audits for matters related to Pune and the GIC.
Candidates should have 15+ years of experience in financial services business advisory HR leadership, with experience leading HR for GICs, shared services, or global operations businesses. Proven experience in growth environments and building HR functions from the ground up is required.
The candidate should have extensive knowledge of the Pune talent market along with strong local labor law and regulatory experience. Strong stakeholder management and matrix organization influencing skills are required, along with experience partnering with global functional heads.
The ideal candidate should have a proven track record in leadership and management of employment relations matters and the ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial and fast-scaling environment. Experience managing HR transformation and change-management initiatives is also required.
