We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Payroll Specialist to join Unity’s EMEA Payroll team. This hybrid role based in the Bangalore office will support accurate and timely payroll processing across multiple EMEA countries while ensuring compliance with local regulations, internal controls, and company policies.
The selected candidate will manage end-to-end payroll operations for assigned EMEA countries including France, Spain, Belgium, Lithuania, and other jurisdictions. The role requires strong payroll processing expertise, analytical skills, payroll accounting knowledge, and experience working with global payroll systems and providers.
Key responsibilities include managing monthly payroll processing, partnering with payroll vendors and in-country providers, validating payroll results, resolving payroll discrepancies, reviewing payroll inputs including new hires, terminations, compensation changes, bonuses, benefits, equity transactions, and employee absences.
The Payroll Specialist will perform payroll audits and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and data integrity, prepare payroll reports, support statutory filings and year-end activities, and manage payroll accounting activities including payroll journals, balance sheet reconciliations, accruals, and variance analysis.
The role will handle complex payroll, tax, social security, and accounting-related queries from employees, HR, Finance, Accounting, Tax, Mobility, Benefits teams, and external payroll providers. The candidate will collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure smooth payroll operations and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
The selected candidate will ensure compliance with internal controls, SOX requirements where applicable, payroll governance standards, and support internal and external audits by providing required payroll documentation and supporting schedules.
The role also involves identifying opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, automation, and employee experience. The candidate will contribute to payroll-related projects, system implementations, acquisitions, integrations, process improvements, maintain payroll documentation, and monitor legislative changes impacting payroll operations across EMEA countries.
Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field with 5–7 years of payroll experience supporting multiple EMEA countries. Hands-on experience managing payroll for countries such as France, Spain, Belgium, Lithuania, and other EMEA regions is required.
The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of payroll legislation, statutory requirements, taxation, social security, payroll accounting, payroll journals, accruals, reconciliations, payroll reporting, and financial analysis. Experience with global payroll platforms such as Workday, CloudPay, ADP, HRIS integrations, and payroll providers is preferred.
Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, formulas, and data validation are required. The candidate should have strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict payroll deadlines.
