The Manager - Payroll & Compliances will lead end to end payroll operations and statutory compliance while ensuring accuracy, timeliness, governance, and compliance with all applicable regulations. The role is responsible for managing payroll for a large workforce, strengthening payroll processes, ensuring statutory compliance, and partnering with Finance and HR Operations to deliver efficient and scalable payroll operations.
Key responsibilities include overseeing end to end payroll processing through HRMS preferably Keka, managing payroll for more than 1,000 employees across blue collar and white collar workforce, handling salary structure updates, variable pay, reimbursements, and full and final settlements, preparing salary structures with strong knowledge of income tax and payroll regulations, coordinating with Finance and HR Operations to ensure accurate onboarding, attendance, leave, confirmations, exits, documentation, payroll inputs, and policy compliance, maintaining employee records within HRMS, preparing HR letters, contracts, payroll reports, and documentation, coordinating payroll reconciliations and audit support with Finance, maintaining confidentiality across payroll transactions, ensuring timely statutory compliance for PF, ESIC, Professional Tax, Labour Welfare Fund, TDS, Trade License, and Shops and Establishments Act requirements, maintaining statutory registers, employee records, licenses, and compliance trackers, monitoring changes in labor laws and statutory regulations, coordinating with auditors, consultants, government authorities, and regulatory bodies, managing government liaison activities including Labour Department coordination, Shop and Establishment registrations, Trade License renewals, Fire NOC compliance, designing payroll MIS reports and analytics dashboards, providing workforce and compensation insights to leadership, supporting internal and external audits, and driving process improvements with zero critical compliance observations.
Candidates should possess 4 to 8 years of experience in HR Operations, Payroll, and Statutory Compliance. Applicants should have hands on experience managing payroll for large employee populations across blue collar and white collar workforce. Strong knowledge of Indian payroll practices, income tax, labor laws, statutory compliance, salary structuring, payroll reconciliations, statutory filings, and compliance documentation is essential. Proficiency in HRMS platforms preferably Keka and Advanced Microsoft Excel is required. The ideal candidate should demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, analytical ability, ownership, confidentiality, time management, problem solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast paced startup environment.
