Desible.ai is hiring an HR Manager - Recruitment & People Operations for its Bengaluru office. Desible.ai is building AI-powered voice agents for enterprise BFSI teams and its platform supports high-volume customer operations. The company is scaling its team and this role will be responsible for building and shaping the people function, recruitment processes, onboarding practices, culture and people operations. The role is office-based and reports directly to the Co-Founders.
The position requires 4–6 years of HR experience, including at least 2 years in a high-growth, VC-backed environment. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in full-cycle recruitment and should be comfortable working in a founder-led startup environment with ambiguity, rapid decision-making and multiple priorities.
The candidate will build and own the full-cycle recruitment pipeline across engineering, product, operations and sales. Responsibilities include partnering with hiring managers to define role specifications and evaluation criteria, sourcing and screening candidates through LinkedIn, niche communities, referrals, university networks and portfolio platforms such as Fueler, GitHub and Dribbble for specialized roles.
The role will involve conducting first-stage interviews, managing candidate experience from application through offer negotiation, and building scalable recruiting SOPs including templates, interview guides, offer letters and reference checks while maintaining the founder's voice. The HR Manager will also track hiring metrics such as time-to-hire, offer acceptance rate, quality-of-hire signals through 30, 60 and 90-day retention, and cost-per-hire.
The candidate will design and execute onboarding for the company's first 40+ hires, including KMPs and related compliance requirements. The role will involve supporting founder vesting compliance and cap table clarity, building the company handbook, employment policies and compliance frameworks for a VC-backed entity, and managing offer letters, confidentiality agreements, ESOP allocation and severance processes.
The HR Manager will own the employee lifecycle including compensation reviews, feedback cycles and exit management. The role will also involve initiating scalable culture programs such as team rituals, values documentation, learning budgets and wellness touchpoints. The candidate will partner with Finance on payroll, benefits and compliance including statutory contributions, tax filings and employee records.
The role will also involve advising founders on compensation positioning including salary bands, equity grants and bonus structures. The candidate will surface people signals such as early flight risk, team dynamics issues and retention risks, and participate in board-level conversations related to organizational design, headcount planning and team structure.
Essential experience includes 4–6 years of HR experience with at least 2 years in a high-growth, VC-backed environment. Hands-on full-cycle recruitment experience covering sourcing, screening, interview loops and offer negotiation is required. The candidate should have built hiring pipelines that scaled teams from 20 to 100+ people and should be familiar with India employment law, statutory compliance and offer letter structuring.
The ideal candidate should be comfortable with ambiguity and founder-led decision-making rather than consensus-driven or process-heavy environments. A quantitative mindset is required for tracking hiring metrics, KPIs and quality-of-hire signals.
Experience in SaaS, B2B software or technology startup scaling environments will be valuable. Experience hiring for specialized roles such as engineers, product professionals and data scientists is preferred. Experience managing ESOP or equity communication, cap table coordination and building or improving recruitment processes from scratch through templates, frameworks and playbooks will be an advantage.
Nice-to-have experience includes exposure to regulated industries such as fintech, insurance or healthcare, with IRDAI or RBI context being a plus. Experience with AI or ML hiring, deep tech recruitment, HR technology integrations, ATS, payroll systems or HRIS tools such as Rippling and BambooHR will be beneficial. MBA or formal HR certification is not required. Prior experience reporting to founders or working in founder-led organizations will be an advantage.
The candidate should demonstrate resourcefulness, ownership, strong communication, a bias toward building, data orientation and cross-functional collaboration. The selected professional should be able to solve problems creatively with limited resources, identify hiring gaps and take ownership without waiting for approval, communicate the company's vision effectively to candidates, build onboarding documentation and optimize HR processes using data.
Desible.ai offers an opportunity to work on a platform processing high-volume conversations across India's insurance ecosystem. The role provides direct partnership with the founders, the opportunity to build the HR function from zero, exposure to investor-grade organizational processes and the opportunity to work across recruitment, compensation design, employee relations, compliance, culture building and board governance.
The hiring process includes an initial 30-minute phone conversation to understand the candidate's background and fit, followed by a 60-minute founder conversation with the Co-Founders covering operating model, culture philosophy and the candidate's approach. Reference calls may be conducted with former founders or hiring managers to validate full-cycle recruitment experience, followed by offer and closure. The company is targeting the hire within 4 weeks of the first conversation.
