Job Description
Sapphire Human Capital has been mandated to identify a seasoned Head – Learning & Development for a leading BFSI organization based in Mumbai. Marathi language proficiency in spoken communication is mandatory due to extensive stakeholder engagement and regional leadership responsibilities associated with the role. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an L&D professional who has successfully built and scaled the entire Training & Development function from scratch within the BFSI sector.
The selected candidate will be responsible for building the Learning & Development function from the ground up by designing, establishing, and institutionalizing governance structures, operating models, policies, processes, and learning frameworks aligned with business priorities. The role requires developing and executing a comprehensive enterprise-wide L&D strategy aligned with organizational goals, future capability requirements, and evolving business needs.
Key responsibilities include designing and driving leadership capability-building initiatives, succession planning frameworks, and high-potential talent programs across multiple levels. The candidate will lead functional, behavioural, managerial, sales, and technical learning interventions to improve workforce effectiveness and productivity. The role also involves driving learning transformation through digital learning initiatives, LMS implementation and optimization, competency frameworks, certification programs, and learning analytics to improve engagement and learning outcomes.
The incumbent will develop BFSI-specific learning interventions covering banking and financial products, sales effectiveness, customer experience, regulatory requirements, compliance standards, and risk awareness programs. They will partner with HR and business leaders to strengthen performance culture, employee development, and organizational effectiveness. The role requires collaboration with senior business leaders, HR teams, external consultants, and training partners to ensure seamless execution and measurable business impact. Additionally, the candidate will build and lead high-performing L&D teams with a strong focus on innovation, governance, execution excellence, and measurable business outcomes.
Candidates must have mandatory experience in building and establishing the entire Training and Learning & Development function from scratch within the BFSI domain and possess proven leadership experience in Learning & Development roles within large and complex BFSI organizations.
