Cedartown Foods is dedicated to creating moments of joy for customers and team members through its quick-service restaurant operations, including Bojangles and Jersey Mike's franchises. The HR Generalist supports human resources operations across multiple restaurant locations and serves as a trusted HR partner to leaders and employees. This role is heavily focused on the execution, coordination, and administration of core HR processes that support operational efficiency, consistency, and compliance across the organization.
The HR Generalist is responsible for high-volume day-to-day HR support including employee relations, onboarding and offboarding, benefits administration, HR systems management, workers’ compensation, compliance, reporting, and HR projects. The position ensures HR practices are applied consistently, processes are completed accurately and on time, and leaders and employees receive effective support in a fast-paced multi-unit environment.
Key responsibilities include serving as the primary HR point of contact for assigned restaurant leaders and employees, handling employee relations matters, workplace investigations, conflict resolution, documentation management, attendance guidance, policy interpretation, and employee concerns. The role requires collecting and maintaining documentation such as witness statements, timelines, supporting evidence, and related records while identifying trends and risks related to employee relations, compliance, and engagement.
The candidate will support onboarding activities including system setup, background checks, employment verification, I-9 and E-Verify processes, onboarding troubleshooting, unemployment claims, and offboarding activities. Responsibilities also include maintaining employee data across HR systems such as Paylocity, Paradox, Harri, Deel, DISA, and The Work Number, processing employee changes, configuring access permissions, and ensuring data accuracy.
The role supports benefits administration including open enrollment, employee benefits guidance, record maintenance, COBRA management, ACA eligibility tracking, EDI discrepancy resolution, and benefits-related documentation. Additional responsibilities include workers’ compensation claim administration, coordination with carriers and adjusters, compliance reporting, FMLA administration, labor law compliance, safety reporting, audit support, and participation in HR process improvement initiatives.
The HR Generalist will partner with restaurant leaders to strengthen manager capability, provide coaching and guidance, support employee engagement and retention initiatives, develop HR policies and training materials, and recommend process improvements to increase HR efficiency and service quality.
Candidates should possess a minimum of 5+ years of HR experience, preferably within restaurant, hospitality, retail, or another multi-unit environment. Experience supporting US employees is mandatory. Strong knowledge of employment laws, compliance requirements, employee relations, workplace investigations, HRIS systems, Microsoft Office, and digital documentation tools is required. The role requires excellent communication, problem-solving, relationship-building, organizational, and decision-making skills. Candidates must be comfortable working remotely while overlapping with US working hours.
