The role requires an experienced payroll professional with deep expertise in Australia and New Zealand payroll to lead end-to-end payroll operations, compliance, governance, and transformation initiatives. While ANZ payroll will be the primary responsibility, the role will also support and collaborate on Asia payroll operations, making regional payroll exposure highly valuable.
As the Payroll Manager, the selected candidate will own and manage the complete payroll function for Australia and New Zealand, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence. The role will act as a Subject Matter Expert and collaborate with cross-functional teams across ANZ and Asia to drive consistency, governance, and payroll transformation initiatives.

The candidate will serve as an escalation point for complex payroll issues and ensure seamless integration between payroll, HRIS, and finance systems.
The role requires ensuring compliance with ATO regulations in Australia and IRD regulations in New Zealand. Responsibilities include managing PAYG withholding, payroll tax, Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT), workers' compensation reporting, compliance with Fair Work Act, National Employment Standards, Enterprise and Collective Agreements, and New Zealand employment regulations. The candidate will drive payroll audits, governance controls, and documentation standards across ANZ and Asia.
The Payroll Manager will oversee Superannuation including STP Phase 2 requirements and KiwiSaver contributions while ensuring timely processing of third-party payments including garnishees and union fees. The role also supports alignment of payroll deductions and benefits frameworks across Asia where applicable.
Additional responsibilities include owning payroll general ledger reconciliations, ensuring accurate payroll accounting and financial postings, partnering with Finance on payroll accounting, accruals and reporting, resolving discrepancies across payroll, HRIS and finance systems, and supporting regional payroll accounting alignment across ANZ and Asia.

The role will drive automation, system enhancements, process improvements, and payroll transformation initiatives across ANZ and Asia while ensuring systems remain compliant with legislative and policy changes.
The role requires partnering with HR, Finance, Operations, and leadership teams across multiple geographies, managing relationships with regulators, auditors, payroll vendors, and external stakeholders. Responsibilities include vendor governance, SLA management, service reviews, and multi-country payroll vendor coordination.
The Payroll Manager will lead, coach, and develop a high-performing payroll team while fostering a culture of compliance, accuracy, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
Required skills include strong payroll accounting knowledge, general ledger reconciliations, statutory reporting including PAYG, FBT, Superannuation and KiwiSaver, exposure to Asia payroll frameworks, advanced Excel skills, analytical thinking, stakeholder management, leadership capabilities, problem-solving skills, and experience working in high-volume payroll environments.
