The Manager – HRBP (Pune) is the founding, full-spectrum HR Business Partner for BINDZ's new Pune site and will serve as the single point of contact for all people-related matters as the site is built from the ground up, while also owning Rewards & Recognition as a company-wide program across Bangalore, Pune, and Hyderabad. Beyond the standard HRBP remit of strategic partnering, conflict resolution, people experience, team leadership and projects, the role integrates a new workforce into CBIZ culture and provides oversight of local HR Operations, including onboarding, documentation and compliance, until the site's operating rhythm stabilizes, without being expected to execute all activities personally. This is an impact-first and employee-first role that connects business, L&D, Talent Acquisition, HR Operations and other functions. The Manager will act as a trusted advisor and occasional challenger to managers and senior leaders, bringing empathy and compassion to interactions while having the courage to push back when required. The role will also serve as a reliable source of data, reporting and insights for HR and leadership. The Manager will operate as the complete HRBP for the Pune client group and understand the client group's delivery model and business pressures well enough to identify people risks early. Responsibilities include acting as a trusted advisor to frontline managers and senior leadership, challenging the status quo, connecting business, L&D, Talent Acquisition, Performance Management, HR Operations and other functions and identifying and closing functional gaps. The role will read engagement, attrition and performance signals for the new site, diagnose root causes and design targeted interventions. The Manager will lead at least one measurable people-experience initiative with clear before and after metrics and partner with L&D and TA to proactively close capability and pipeline gaps. The role includes handling grievances, conflicts and terminations fairly, consistently and in compliance with policy and labor law, maintaining confidentiality and sound judgment on sensitive matters including compensation, PIPs and investigations and building trust and psychological safety. The Manager will design, own and drive the Rewards & Recognition program company-wide across Bangalore, Pune and Hyderabad, including program design, nomination quality, adoption and linking recognition to business outcomes. The role will partner with the Performance Management owner in Bangalore so recognition reinforces performance outcomes and may provide broader Employee Relations support, including case management and policy administration. As part of site build and culture integration, the Manager will serve as the primary go-to person for Pune employees navigating policies and processes, design and run onboarding and integration experiences to connect new hires with CBIZ culture and the larger BINDZ team and build the local HR operating rhythm, routines, escalation paths and manager touchpoints from scratch. The role provides oversight and governance of HR Operations activities for the site, including onboarding logistics, documentation, statutory compliance and process compliance, including Maharashtra-specific labor law nuances. This is an oversight role and does not require personally executing all HR Operations activities. The Manager will escalate and resolve issues when HR Operations execution through the HR Ops team or vendors does not keep pace. There are no direct reports initially and the position starts as an individual contributor role. Future scope may include managing a direct report such as an HRBP Associate or Assistant Manager and potentially providing functional oversight of the Hyderabad AM-HRBP. The Manager will contribute to broader HR projects, improve HR processes and policies and identify opportunities to automate manual HR processes through a technology-and-automation-first approach. The role requires an action-oriented mindset, comfort with building something from the ground up and the ability to adjust quickly based on results. Responsibilities also include providing attrition, engagement, performance and headcount data to HR functions, stakeholders and leadership and translating raw data into clear insights and recommendations. Candidates must have 10–12 years of progressive HR experience with meaningful experience as an HR Business Partner. Demonstrated experience designing and executing HR projects and initiatives end-to-end is required. Candidates should have proven experience designing or leading a company-wide Rewards & Recognition or Performance Management program, experience contributing to or improving organizational HR processes and policies and experience setting up a new site, team or green-field HR function. The role requires comfort with providing oversight and governance of HR Operations activities through others, proven conflict management and resolution experience involving grievances, terminations and performance issues, strong business acumen, data literacy and reporting capabilities, compliance and policy knowledge, performance and talent process execution experience and strong Excel and PowerPoint skills. Core competencies include high empathy and compassion, willingness to challenge the status quo, trusted-advisor courage, confidentiality and judgment, the ability to connect business, TA, L&D, Performance and Operations, creative and resourceful problem-solving, influence and persuasion, a technology-and-automation-first mindset, high risk tolerance and an action-oriented approach. Good-to-have skills include experience managing or mentoring others, broader Employee Relations exposure, compensation and benefits query resolution, Macros, Power BI, formal change management frameworks such as ADKAR and Kotter, executive coaching exposure, organizational design capability, M&A or integration experience, cross-industry or cross-geography experience and advanced or predictive people analytics.
